Pool & Grounds

The house is surrounded by mown grass areas, and the grounds extend over a total of 7 acres of grassy slopes and woodland. Beyond the mown areas, the grounds are quite wild.
The 5m by 10m pool is set below the southern end of the courtyard.

The pool is 5m by 10m with Roman steps at one end. The purification system is based on salt water, which doesn't mean to say that a mouthfull of water tastes like the Atlantic - it is only slightly salty, which allows purification by electrolysis in the pump house. As a result the water feels pleasantly soft and there is not the smell of chlorine found with other types of pools.
The pool plage (the paved pool surround) makes a rectangle of about 17m wide and 10m deep.
The pool is protected by a standard alarm which senses when an object falls into the water. It is disabled by a simple switch to enable swimming, and rearms itself approximately 10 mins after swimming stops.
You do need to remember to disable the alarm before swimming again!

Pool Equipment:
There is a large garden table, with 6 seats. These can be positioned as required around the pool or on the grass area adjoining the pool area.
There is a large oak arbour with a bamboo cover to give shade for the eating area and a large movable umbrella to provide shade around the pool.
There are up to six sun loungers and wooden outdoor side tables, depending on the size of your party.

There are 7 acres of grounds. The area around the house is set to lawn, and while the courtyard does have a gravel drive going through it, there are several large areas of grass.
To the East of the main house there is a one acre field which is flat. It is mown a couple of times a year, but is otherwise quite wild.
Below the house and the swimming pool, the valley falls away to the south. Many years ago it was a vineyard, benefiting from the sunny aspect, but now it is just grass. It is also mown a couple of times a year, but on either edge is quite wild. Below the mown area, downhill of the old walnut tree, there are wild apples, ferns and here the terrain is left untouched.
